Since the launch of Cobb’s Competitive EDGE, we have experienced tremendous economic growth in all areas of our county.  Our investors and community stakeholders demanded high quality results and our economic development team continues to deliver.

JOBS – Since 2011, we have created or retained more than 20,000 jobs.

NEW CORPORATE INVESTMENT – nearly $2 billion dollars have been invested into Cobb in five years.  The jobs created have lowered Cobb’s unemployment rate to the lowest in Metro Atlanta’s core counties.

SUPPORTING OUR MILITARY –  Retain and support Dobbins ARB, one of Cobb and Metro Atlanta’s greatest assets.  The launch of the Military Family Support center will provide resources, goods and services to the many active military and veterans in Metro Atlanta.  This is just one of the many efforts EDGE and Chamber leaders are proud to spearhead to ensure the 20,000 jobs associated with the base will stay in Marietta.

REDEVELOPMENT – Redevelopment was a top priority for the EDGE team.  We are celebrating new infrastructure investment, continued growth at Six Flags and two new manufacturing and distribution facilities in South Cobb alone.  Along the Franklin Gateway projects are thriving.  Home Depot’s Technology Campus has brought 1,500 jobs to the corridor and has been the catalyst for the vibrant momentum.  Marietta also enjoys being the new home of Atlanta United FC’s corporate HQ and training ground.  EDGE and community partners also hosted three series of Redevelopment Forums, marketing our redevelopment sites and plans to developers and community members.

SMALL BUSINESS COMMITMENT:  Launched IgniteHQ, Cobb’s business incubator and accelerator.  This resource will create an ecosystem of young talent and coworking space to bring innovative ideas to reality with our partners at Kennesaw State University.

WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT:  Modeled after Governor Nathan Deal’s High Demand Career Initiative, the Cobb Workforce Partnership is the first to take statewide planning and implement that at the local level.  With businesses engaged and driving our plan, EDGE has connected our K-12 schools, technical colleges and universities together to formulate a plan to ensure our businesses have a pipeline of workers for the next generation.  Throughout the EDGE process, the graduation rates have increased to 81%.

MARKETING OUR ASSETS & TELLING THE GREAT STORY:  EDGE has launched its first national PR campaign in print, television, radio and billboard.

COMMITMENT TO EXISTING INDUSTRY:  Over 125 existing companies are surveyed and personally visited annually to reinforce our commitment to our local companies.  During these visits companies are surveyed on their satisfaction with the community from local services to workforce availability.

INVESTING IN TRANSPORTATION – With the largest transportation project in Cobb’s history, the Northwest Corridor Project will bring excited improvements to existing roadways and the newly anticipated managed lanes along 75 and 575.
